This. Very few people were actually interested in a 100% literal account of history back then. For example if you wanted to write a story about a guys life and he was considered a very strong and courageous person you might write a story about him fighting a Lion with his bare hands. The fact he never actually fought a lion was irrelevant to them, the point they wanted to get across was this was a strong and courageous guy and the story of him fighting a lion is how they tell their audience that.

Until someone took a bible and dug where the bible said the Hittite empire was, and found it.

Same way with the guy who found Noah's ark. Same way with the guy who found the Al Aqaba crossing. Same way with the guy who found Jericho. Same way with the guy who found wartime cisterns in Jerusalem big enough for a man to pass through.

All of those things were "proof" the bible was wrong, until all of those things were found using the bible as an information and reference point.

So while the bible does not contain all of the truth in the universe, what the bible does contain is all true.

The bible doesn't mention the Hittite empire, it mentions an ethnic group living in Canaan called the Hittites, one being Uriah, a soldier under King David. Ironically the existence of the Hittite empire actually reflects a historical error in the bible, since during the conquest of Canaan and some of the period in Judges happen when Egypt ruled over Canaan, and the Hittites over Syria. Joshua and Judges make absolutely no sense in light of this.
