>Was Charles the Bold stupid
Yes
>were the odds just stacked against him?
The odds were in his favour at first until he lost every single battle and siege
His chivalric feats gave him false confidence in military tactics. He was an accomplished jousters, but foolish commander.
Also, why did no other medieval country even try to have as lavish of a court life as Burgundy?

1. Yes
2. I would say that the odds were relatively balanced, but being incompetent put Charles at a disadvantage

There's a reason the other name for him is Charles the Rash.

If you've actually looked at his defeats, they weren't actually as bad as you think. Even the worst, Morat was barely a battle, considering his lines weren't even drawn up. He definitely wasn't stupid, look at the conquests of Gelre and Barrois/Lorraine, they went swimmingly.
Wikipedia and it's statistics really dont tell you anything.
