Probably a hoax made by a scribe to showcase his skills. It was made during the Renaissance, when Eastern scientific knowledge was in fashion. The manuscript is probably the result of someone making a fake science book to show how good he was at his job, and possible to sell to someone who wanted a trendy curiosity. Or maybe someone commissioned a book to make it seem like he had special mystic knowledge.
