>English still occupy 6 counties in Ulster
The people of Ulster decided to remain part of the UK even when home rule was offered to them, just like it was offered to the rest of Ireland, as per the opt-out clause offered by the 1922 Anglo-Irish Treaty. The people of Ulster were asked if they wanted to become a part of the Irish Free State, but they chose not to. It was a democratic decision made by the local people of Ulster. Why does this trouble you?

Stockholm syndrome
>>2336585
You're suggesting an entire country has "Stockholm syndrome" instead of that they simply chose to remain part of a political union where they have deep historical, linguistic, ethnic, cultural, economic and religious ties with the other members, whilst enjoying devolution and the power to set their own laws and taxes whilst enjoying the protection and prestige of being part of one of the world's largest economies.

What about the 1973 Northern Ireland border poll? When 98.9% of the votes cast were in favour of remaining part of the UK?
You can nit-pick all you want. It doesn't change the fact that the British Government has been given a mandate by the people of Northern Ireland, who have demonstrated their support for the union.
