Why is humanity good?
>>2334026
Because we are humans.
If we cannot see ourselves, in our heart of hearts, as a species that tries to be good, then we cannot be a civilization.
From the first time a group of cavemen decided to band together, to this very day, we have been able to create societies because we can trust in the common good of man. The ability to work together to create lead us to the top of the world, and kept it there. While we cannot always trust each other when we become stronger, and have more to lose, when it comes down to it, there are very few people who ever act in a way that they themselves perceive as evil.
We are humanity. And we believe ourselves to be good. Because without that belief, we could not be the humanity we are today.

We come to earth to try to become good.

What is good?
Humanity is a spook

do you mean humanity as in the human race, or humanity as in acting human

While i agree for the most part, how do you account for the so called atrocities committed throughout history by people who were supposedly just following orders or doing what they percieved to be right, or even percieved those they slaughtered en mass to be 'subhuman'. What happens when the notion of 'humanity' and 'civilized' behavior becomes corrupted? Its happened many times. Could these instances ultimately prove a hole in your theory? How big an atrocity need there be committed before 'humanity' as you see it is unrecoverable?

Define good

You have a point. Even at our best, there is a part of us that represents the worst we have to offer. The animal. The savage. The warrior. The part of humanity that we have spent the better part of our existence seeing as either a relic of the past, or the savior of our own sect of people, depending on the time.
We have problems as a people. We see others as unhuman or subhuman because of differences, be it the color of our skin or the God we believe in, to any number of things. We act on our instincts, and sometimes, they prove wrong. They prove horrific.
But the thing that keeps me hopeful? None of these horrible acts, these massacres, these murders, these corruptions, have ever finished us. Every time someone was to try something like that, something that should shock humanity to it's core and even ruin it, we have continued. We strive for good in spite of our past, and attempt to stop future instances of our own barbarism in any way we can.
The day we as a species stop trying to save ourselves is the day we stop being our species. But until then, we can be good.
Because we're trying.

We aren't good, but we are the best. So far, we're the only lifeforms we know of to reach this stage of advancement. We do terrible things, but you don't see the whales doing anything to end global hunger.

It isn't, humanity must be destroyed at all costs.
