No not really, this is really exaggerating it. It's not like it was translated and re-translated into a million dead languages along the way, the OT was translated from Hebrew to Koine Greek by Jews who knew Hebrew, and the NT was even mostly written in Koine Greek. Then it was translated one more time into Latin and stayed like that all throughout Catholic dominance in western Europe (read: a very long time).
