Everytime I see German WW2-era tanks, planes, rockets, etc., it absolutely astonishes me how futuristic they must've looked for their time. It's like the difference between a normal tank and some laser shooting breakdancing mecha from those japanese animemes.

Because they had to very urgently be built up from the ashes to sit in the USSR's way, so the whole "not all germans", and "only a few people on top were evil" stuff was propagated, as well as "they might've been evil, but..." myths about german quality of weapons, research, and so on, and their invincible army and superior soldiers.
