Why should or shouldn't I study history at college?
Because economics
Because mathematics
Because philosophy
Because literally all of my history knowledge comes from some of these texts and I can still fucking rape people in history debates on this board
Study it if you are willing to tryhard networking/et cetera, get into a high uni so you can teach at community college or something.
Doing just okay in history = you would be lucky to teach history at a detroit high school. May sound a little comfy, but it requires a phd, has a very low employment ratio (most history phds dont even teach history), and has bad pay.
If you love history but also want a solid career, i'd suggest something with better stats while doing /lit/ as a hobby. It dashes together theology, philosophy, history and anthropology, and it allows you to write once you git gud enough.
Don´t destroy you life: avoid History

how exactly would studying history destroy my life? please elaborate niggy
>>2321280
It's a fucking waste of money
It depends OP. Are you American? If so, never even think about going to college unless you want to have 100000 dollars in debt for the rest of your life.
If you live in a country where you can actually default on your student loans, go ahead and study whatever you want.

gotta spend your money on something, right?

I speak by my personal experience. I´m a historian and is very difficult to take any job, even for education. Become university teacher is very difficult.
Definitely, study history if you want to teach in a highschool. If not it would be a good hobby

It's only useful if you want to teach it or work at a museum.

There are only several solid careers you can get, but for a good salary you need to be committed during school.
>museum worker/ archivist
>author (translate, textbook, theory, etc.)
>High school teacher/ professor
