Not really. It's just that Stalinist architecture is very different from what came afterwards. Your generic commieblocks are from the 1960s and later, when all this style was declared "redundant".

do the architect care about the landscape at all or was it changed? the surrounding looks ugly as fuck
there should've been a plaza or garden if you go by classical convention

I'm sorry but making a subway station look like a baroque museum is gauche as fuck reminds me of Saudi military baracks being plated in gold.

Were they trying to symbolize Russia itself?
>>
>>2305689
This is back when a city's transit system was a symbol of prestige. London started out with their tubes and other metropolitan cities around the world soon followed suit. Of course, the Soviets had to be better at everything than everyone else. And public transport is a very authoritarian left thing, so why not show your wealth in your subway?
>>
>>2305739
Parks are so petit bourgeouis.

Seriously, though, I guess originally, in the 1930s to 1950s, there was some kind of a plan to rebuild Moscow in a unified style, but later it was all abandoned, and so Moscow remains the mishmash of styles it is now. It's not as bad as it sounds, though, and it's gotten much better in the recent years.

If western capitalist stooges didn't get in the way he would have made the entire world beautiful.

Russia had a long history of high art and architecture well before communism. They still maintain it in some ways.

How is it even possible for one country to be so V I S I O N A R Y.
>>

architect here, parks are important social public spaces as it generally improve the life quality of society as whole and was used for everyone, not only the rich, till today politicians who defends parks/public space/urban mixed use buildings are mostly socialist and left leaning

>>2305847
It was a joke.
>>
>>2305847
and also it makes more sense for a communist/socialist country due to their nature to build grand project which can be used by everyone such as>>2305689 rather than making something like >>2305714 which can only be accessed by government officials, while letting the city fabric felt to decay

heh, get back to playing lego, kid
>>
>>2305882
Im both, aside from city planners who work for the government, most city planners do architecture, and even those government guys do consultation with us every now and then

I get what you mean though, there's the architect + landscape + city planner and then there's architect + interior design + fag shit
>>
>>2305906
I was just meming you. I knew a guy who was an architect and he got REALLY pissed off if you said he wasn't qualified to be a city planner.
>>
>>2305847
You're completely missing the point of Stalinism, or any other totalitarian ideology, for that matter. The point is to make an individual feel like a tiny cog in the machine of the State. Your "socialist and left leaning" politicians have nothing in common with that.

Grow up. If you complained about sewer mains making some stations smell like shit maybe you'd have a point. You'd don't notice dilapidated walls during rush hour unless you go out of your way to notice them.

NYC mass transit moves more people in 24 hours than most smaller countries have people. It's not pretty but it just weeks.
>>2306187
Blame all the brown people who consider literring a rebellious act against the oppressive white patriarchy or whatever. There are specially designed vaccume trains that are used every night specifically for shit like that anyway.

>most stations are just ugly holes in the ground
>but be the only subway system IN THE WORLD to remain fully operational 24 hours a day 7 days a week

NYC subway also has a vastly superior map to most subway systems since it has major streets laid over it instead of a worthless silhouette of the city like Montreal or London's maps.

>Anything is better than the NYC subway which is fucking 3rd world by every measure.

What a ridiculous statement. "Waaaah the stations are dirty!" Yeah, because they fully serve a city of 8 million people, 24 hours a day, for the last hundred years, with a network extensive enough that people don't need or want cars.
>>
>>2306253

I feel a bit the same about the Paris Metro. It really is an incredible network in terms of coverage. There's sometimes stops just 50 metres away from each other, it's a bit silly sometimes. Also there's the semi-underground RER regional trains that go right through the middle of the city and connect with the major underground stations along the way as well as at their own stations (which are the largest underground stations in the world). London is laughably only just starting to build the crossrail network. It's also really cheap by Western Euro standards. I pay 70 (half of which is paid by my company) per month for unlimited travel within a huge area.

The downside is that the Paris metro can smell so so so bad. Also, every single fucking day there are hobos sleeping and pissing there and asking for money on every carriage.

>>

Not at all. 4chan memes Paris really fucking hard. Mostly because most of the memers have never been for more than a weekend (if at all). There's tons of non-white people (if that really disturbs you) around the Gar du Nord area. Everything gets much cleaner the further away from there you get.

If you're only going to go to touristy spots you will only ever get the worst experience of Paris. The same applies to every capital city ever.

It's not brown people per say, its young people who trash things up. Young people have no discipline, you used to be able to beat your kid if they misbehaved, now they give you 'time out' or 'get grounded' or certain 'privileges revoked'. Kids these days are behaving like Showa era juvenile delinquents. The type you see in Akira.
