There's a lot more to falsehoods with words than just straight up lying.
Imagine you broke a window with a ball and your mom asked: "Did you break the window with your ball?"
Lying: Saying something false you know to be false. ("I didn't break the window with my ball.")
Deception: Saying something true that is misleading. ("I didn't see the window breaking.", wihout mentioning that you just didn't see it because you were behind a wall, but you did break it)
