In the past, I've seen people posting that the cambridge histories of japan have good bibliographies of recommended works. the volume I link here is on your period of interest. The works themselves are also great if you just want to get a little taste of Japanese period.

this annotated bibliography is literally called fall of the qing dynasty, 1840-1912, so you'll surely find good recs in the first sections on introductory and general works.
