I've been interested in the empire for a while but I can't find any books at my local library or bookstore.

Carthage died a quick, painless death. Rome slowly decayed over the coarse of many years due to many reasons we still don't understand. Kind of like an old person with alzheimer's.

Carthage was brutally murdered by Rome and her allies.

>painless death
I don't think "salting the earth" implies a painless death. Pretty sure Rome assfucked Carthage and left its corpse to rot for a few centuries before rebuilding on top of it.

This book I've been reading goes over the entire history of the Byzantian period, preceding it and proceeding it.
Fairly informative. The ottoman empire/Istanbul part is towards the end of the book. The Byzantian part is in the middle. Where i'm currently at.

Just read Gibbon if you haven't already.
