Someone drop some knowledge on me about the overall History of Spain.

>who lived in the Iberian Peninsula before the Romans got there?
>who took over once Rome fell?
>Why was the Goth's rule over Spain so short?
>How did the inhabitants of Spain let a Bunch of African islam converts take over?
>why was Islam the single best thing that happened to Spain?
>why was Islam bad?
>Discovery of America.
>Decline in power after the Wars of a Religion.

Talk about it all, I'm intrigued to hear everyone's knowledge

A mixed bag, the Atlantic Bronze Age people were technologically related to each other from the earliest of times, they were also related to North Africans.

On the Mediterranean coast the Greeks created some trading outposts that became towns.

In the central areas you get a mixture of Iberian-Celtic peoples.

In the south west the Lusitanians occupied territory.

The Carthaginians also started to create settlements on the south and Mediterranean coasts.

So, as pic related illustrates, there was always a mixed bag of peoples in Spain.

Al lI know is that Basque is a pre-PIE language, so they are the original inhabitants of Spain.

And that Islam stopped there because long supply lines and couldn't take France.

thought neanderthals were extinct right around the 10k years ago?

Spain was definitely inhabited by modern Humans after though, I'm just trying to understand who was there around the time of the creation of babylon and the argiculture settlements of the Fertile Crescent.

>who found these iberian people? Were they the greeks? Or someone sooner?
>>
>>2274756
>babylon and the argiculture settlements of the Fertile Crescent.

implying these are contemporary to one another
>>
>>2274684
>who lived in the Iberian Peninsula before the Romans got there?
The same people that lived before the Romans. Iberians mixed with Phoenicians, celts and greeks in the northern mediterranean
>>
>>2274684
>why was Islam the single best thing that happened to Spain?
t. Al Rasgiid the goat rapist.
The muslim conquest depopulated good chunks of Spain and deforested entire regions which would doom the country forever as the demographics could never support Spain's ambitions. The invasion was a net lose overall
>>
>>2274756
it was the last place where neanderthals were, it'd be not insane to speculate about how much neanderthal dna is mingled within the spanish dna
>>
>>2274684
>Decline in power after the Wars of a Religion.
The countries economy was fucked. Charles the II fixed and if he had an heir the kingdom would have jumped back eventually but the succession war deprived Spain of lots of their old territories like Naples,Sicily or Flanders. Still XVIII Spain was pretty powerful and pretty peosperous

The Civil War is the only remotely interesting aspect of Spanish history
>>
>>2274761

More of a generalization of wide spread dates... since I'm not sure the exact dates that the iberian peninsula was settled by a notable civilization or inhabitants.
>>
>>2274776

Really??? That's awesome, never knew that!? Any articles you have layong around or that might be easily accessible
>>
>>2274784
Yeah because the punic wars, the Spanish huge contribution to the Roman empire, the Reconquista, the Italian wars and the discovery and conquest of America are pretty dull events
>>
>>2274772

lol hadn't heard of that, i suppose that post would fit under >why was Islam bad?
>>
>>2274784
>not the phoenician and carthaginian colonizations
>not the roman colonization
>not the gothic population
>not the reconquista
>not the spanish age of sail
>not the tercios
>not the spanish american wars of independence
>not the peninsular war
>not history during franco
this has to be some kind of baiting

>who lived in the Iberian Peninsula before the Romans got there?
Native Iberan tribes and celtiberians (Celts with ties to the iberian natives).
Some colonies from Carthago too.
>who took over once Rome fell?
Visigoths
>Why was the Goth's rule over Spain so short?
"Short". They ruled more than 200 years, from 475 to 711.
>How did the inhabitants of Spain let a Bunch of African islam converts take over?
The place was in the middle of a civil war, and the population wasn't as big as nowadays. Even if your army is small, peasants normally can't do shit against it.
>why was Islam the single best thing that happened to Spain?
It wasn't, but ironically they were the ultimately thing that turned Spain into an empire.
>why was Islam bad?
It was as bad as the rest of religions those days.
>Discovery of America.
The conquest was not as bad as anglos like to say.
>Decline in power after the Wars of a Religion.
The decline had numerous roots, but the main one was having a bunch of shit kings who didn't know about economy, diplomacy or war (seriously, they have had like, two good kings from 1500 to nowadays)
>>
>>2274784
>The Civil War is the only remotely interesting aspect of Spanish history
as long as you're not counting the visigothic kingdoms, al-andalus, and the reconquista

You guys are simply pathetic with your WE WUZING.You have accomplished nothing and hung on the achievements of others.Berbers ruined the Caliphate of Cordoba and the Taifas that was mostly an achievement of Spanish converts .The almohads and almoravids (the period of highest goat rapist influence) were backwards and destructive and got rightfully BTFO.

The glut of gold from the new world ruined Spain forever. It's why they have no human capital today.

No.The population grew a lot during the discovery of Amrica and the intruduction of new crops. The demographic problem was caused by the muslims as they prioritized shepards over agriculture which destroyed very fertile soil and croped demographic growth.

The Iberian language, that was spoken in the Iberian Mediterranean coast, and possibly came from the north (We have the oldest inscriptions in Catalonia), was also Non-Indo-European.

However, it possibly wasn't in the language family of Basque. There seem to be some shared words, because of contact between the languages, but so far we haven't been able to translate the language, and it doesn't seem to really be connected to Basque.

When did the pick implied other wise? Spain went from a flawless Opus technocracy to an average, decadent and mediocre social democracy
