When Douglas MacArthur went to west point his mom moved in too and he got bullied.

His mom found out about the bullying and agitated for a congressional inquiry into his bullying. Everybody involved had to testify before congress on the school drama, causing congress to outlaw bullying.

He still got bullied.

There's no way to tell whether MacArthur really wanted to coup or not. What is known is that he had a giant ego and held certain political beliefs, like that the US should have its own place in the sun in opposition to the USSR and the British both.

He had spats with both FDR who called him the most dangerous man in America and Truman, who MacArthur had disagreements with over on how to proceed in Korea and China. MacArthur advocated for more extreme measures, like nuclear threats if need be, whereas Truman wanted to stand down.

Being a agent of the communist conspiracy is high treason. Both Ike and Marshall were either communists, or sympathizers, or didn't do anything to purge them, which makes them guilty. MacArthur was fanatically anti-communist and he purged the occupation authorities of Japan of them. That's why he was so hated and feared.
