Motivate why Gallipolli was a British victory
it wasnt
>mobilize half million against a third undersupplied turds
>lose over 70% of your army
>>2259703
>kill lots of Turks
>loot Turkey
>send our aristocracy on holiday abroad
How is that a loss?
Australian defeat =/= British defeat
>>2259783
Military loss
>>2259703
It wasn't.
I've been to Gallipoli myself. It's actually pretty hilarious how much the Turks hype it up. The museum there presents it as the birth of the Turkish nation, where Ataturk single handedly saved them from conquest by a bunch of crusaders and there is an explicit comparison between it and the Trojan War from epic poetry.
They straight up worship the captain of a minelaying ship because the guy's mines almost single handedly fucked the British and French fleets up when they tried to push the strait.
