Im writing a persuasive argument on wether the bombings were right or wrong. Im not sure what side to argue on though, hit me /his/

Japs deserved it tbqh
well this is obviously a high school assignment so just make a simple argument that America's strength as a world leader comes from the moral example we set & hold ourselves to and that the utilitarianism of deciding to commit 'war crimes' based on the number of dead calculated in a hypothetical invasion by saying the same philosophical calculus could be used to excuse even greater 'crimes against humanity' which runs contrary to American interests of being a world leader interested in protecting the rights of all people
you'll get an A if you're not retarded because almost everyone else will just be saying "yes it saved lives" or "no killing people is wrong"

>and that the utilitarianism
Should say "and argue that"
>>2257822
you should argue that two bombs were not enough.

Honestly nukes itself were neccery, in context of other strategic or terror bombing done by Allies, plus need to test of such weapon and need for world to see it terrible glory before such weapon become more common, plus this was needed for demonstration of power to Soviets. Both cities would be far more destroyed if they were picked as test targets and bombed normally like rest.

>Bombs were not directed at citizens (aiming for industrial areas rather than populated areas)
>US casualties would have doubled in WWII if an invasion took place
>Great advancement in science
>Japs deserved it.
Happy birthday anon
highschool papers aren't about being right. they're about demonstrating that you can present a coherent argument with clarity & a small degree of critical thinking.
you could argue that '2 bombs wasn't enough' or that 'we should have bombed kyoto' as long as you present your case in such a way that shows you put effort & thought into it. The average highschooler writes like absolute dogshit and all you have to do is look better than them
