Tbh I think the point was that, although the natives were a bit screwed over, what happened to the Maori is much less worse than what happened to the Australian Aborginals or Native Americans, they actually retained some of their culture and mainly integrated well into NZ, the same couldn't be said for the most other indigenous groups.
