Why are Lenin and Stalin regarded as misunderstood heroes on this board, while Mao is regarded as a ridiculous incompetent?
>>
Because Mao really was a fucking idiot.

t. Chinaman
>>
>>2244423
Moreso than the Soviets?
>>
>>2244441
Mao was brilliant at leading his guerilla movement and his was politically smart in the sense that he had political capital

A lot of his economic changes then go against this, it's hard to tell if he was driven by pure ideology or if he was just inept
>>
>>2244472
So what makes the millions dead under Mao a different story from the millions dead under the USSR?
>>
Stalin had enough sensible policy, or at least sensible backtracking on shitty policy, to keep up a somehow salvageable appearance. Lenin had some fuckups, especially where Trotsky was involved, but he too knew how to backtrack.
Mao, well, by the time he considered that maybe peasants shouldn't be making shitty pig iron in their backyards it was already too late. Corrections were done not by him, but his successors.

>Lenin and Stalin

>regarded as heros

looks like someone needs a helicopter ride
>>
>>2244488
I personally don't see a difference but

I think Lenin and Stalin have more of a reputation simply because of two things, one they are Russian and not Chinese and we just have a general better understanding of events in the USSR

the 2nd thing is that Lenin and Stalin had periods of struggle which they won, winning the civil war and beating the Germans is going to make them seem more heroric than Mao, who fought a guerilla war against the japs and then a shitty civil war against CKS's corrupt KMT

Mao also made deals with the west so he's not going to look "as cool"

He was just inept at ruling and the fact that he compare himself to the first emperor didn't help ether.
If you look up the shits he did, he pretty much acted like Qin Shi Huang 2.0

>Lenin and Stalin regarded as misunderstood heroes
no they aren't
>>
>>2244417

Mao was a phenomenal revolutionary, but he was a terrible head of state.

lenin and stalin are mostly hated on in /his/. Lenin and Stalin killed their own people, mao took it to the next level though.

When he took all those farmers and put them in the steel industry and expect magic to happen is one of the stupidest things any ruler could do. Mao is proof that the chink race is inferior to whites in interrigence.

The bigger question is why is communism taken seriously on /his/? I thought this was a sane board, but you still have a lot of idiots with no knowledge of basic history (or biology) defending communism.

So who was the chink who just said "this communist shit is fucking horrible, time to become capitalist"???
>>
>>2244417
Because under Stalin the USSR became a power that could win half of WW2 and challenge the USA.

Under Mao, the PRC just kept fucking everything up with dumb shit like the Great Leap Forward and the Cultural Revolution, and it wasn't until he was dead and Deng Xiaoping took over that China's economy took off.
>>
>>2245377
Deng Xiaoping. He took the fucked up bullshit that Mao left him, and started the "Socialism with Chinese Characteristics" meme which was just his way of saying "we are going to have a market economy open to the global market and foreign investment, but we'll keep pretending we are socialist anyway".
>>
>>2245360
because they're state college flunkies working at starbucks
>>
>>2245360
Because people on this board are desperate to set themselves apart from /pol/, basically.

>Following Mao's death on 9 September 1976 and the purge of the Gang of Four in October 1976, Deng gradually emerged as the de facto leader of China.

>China's domestic social, political, and most notably, economic systems would undergo significant changes during Deng's time as leader.

>The strategy for achieving these aims of becoming a modern, industrial nation was the socialist market economy. Deng argued that China was in the primary stage of socialism and that the duty of the party was to perfect so-called "socialism with Chinese characteristics", and "seek truth from facts".

>This interpretation of Maoism reduced the role of ideology in economic decision-making. Downgrading communitarian values, but not necessarily the criticising the ideology of Marxism-Leninism, Deng emphasized that "socialism does not mean shared poverty"

>"Planning and market forces are not the essential difference between socialism and capitalism. A planned economy is not the definition of socialism, because there is planning under capitalism; the market economy happens under socialism, too. Planning and market forces are both ways of controlling economic activity."

>Deng did not object to policies on the grounds that they were similar to ones which were found in capitalist nations.

>"We mustn't fear to adopt the advanced management methods applied in capitalist countries (...) The very essence of socialism is the liberation and development of the productive systems (...) Socialism and market economy are not incompatible (...) We should be concerned about right-wing deviations, but most of all, we must be concerned about left-wing deviations."

>In the move toward market allocation, local municipalities and provinces were allowed to invest in industries that they considered most profitable, which encouraged investment in light manufacturing. Thus, Deng's reforms shifted China's development strategy to an emphasis on light industry and export-led growth.

Have ya seen pol recently? Every day there's that freakin' spaniard posting threads, and then the commies come out of the woodwork to post memes. It's actually infuriating for some reason, I shouldn't care but I do.
