the European equivalent of Wewuzianism..
even worse since legit educated scholars believed in it?

Aryan was just the term used to mean "Indo-Europeans." It still is some times.
unlike the wewuzians
Europe actually has a connection to Indo-Europeans

I understand "Aryan" to have been a spiritual state.

I understand that's retarded.

So why do Ossetians call themselves Iron?
Get real, it's an ethnic term. Finns call slaves orja. Nice spiritual state you got there.
No, Aryan i just a genetic term and it describes a people who moved...to put it simply, linguistic analysis has proved that the Indians were once under Aryan control. As the people then moved West (you can even find pockets of Aryan peoples in some valleys in Afghanistan) and then into Iran (literally "land of the Ayrans").
You won't find any truly serious academic studies on it bc "muh nazis used it," but the "aryan" people most certainly existed and spread their dominion from India to Ireland.

>spread their dominion from India to Ireland.
Yeah sure but they originated in Pontic-Caspian steppe. Indo-Iranians specifically originate in the general context of the Corded Ware culture, who were descended from Yamna related people.
