So why did Christians abandon God's command to not deal in usury?
>>2229851
It was too profitable to not do.
Christians do what they want and then twist the Bible around to justify it later.

So much this
I hate muslims but at least they do as the Quran says
Christians cherrypick whatever they want to believe in, or ignore everything and say "well Jesus forgives anyway lol"

Where does God command this?

Natural self-interest manifest into greed. The banking empires are too powerful, it is the back-bone of the current modernized world. Debt-slaves make the finest kind of population due to their subservience and inability to escape servitude.
Early on the church would hire Jews. As Jews were allowed to practice usury to all goyim(non Jews), and Jews can be then taxed for their usury it circumvented the sin of usury. This is how Jews who were nomadic serf drifters to established pseudo-royalty solely on wealth from banking and reinvesting those earnings.
If you mean now in days, people pick and choose the laws they wish to follow. It helps that individuals can interpret scripture in their own words rather than from the church nobility. It was the religious authority who kept the common folk fearful of usury.

Because they twist their religion to fit the times in an effort to stay relevant.

Well, it is a schismatic Jewsih cult. The technicalities that Jews use to obey their religious laws while still taking the fullest advantage of modern conveniences is downright impressive and the Christians also (to a lesser extent, of course, just because their faith isn't as legalistic) try to skirt the spirit of the law while obeying the letter in much the same manner. The whole "contract with god" thing is more literal than many people realize.

What are you some kind of anti-Semite?
