What would have been Roman Empire maximum possible extension if they won some crucial battles they lost?
For me, pic related. Original Roman Empire + Dacia + Germania + Mesopotamia + Nubia. Limes would have been Vistula River + Carpathian Mountains + Dniester River in Northern Europe (shorter than Rhin-Danube thus easier to defend; Romans wouldn't avance furthemore because it would be too much effort for poor as fuck Sarmatia), Caucasus + Zagros Mountains + Arabian Desert in Asia, and Sahara + Sudd swamp in Africa

Real life isn't a GSG idiot. Rome extended as far as it was able or worthwhile to.

You mean besides the fact that they DIDN'T WANT TO EXTEND?
They willingly relinquished a bunch of territories because they realised it would be too difficult for them to overextend themselves that far and manage all these vast new territories, so they just willingly gave them up. In fact, managing the empire became such a chore that they split it into two empires to make things simpler. This isn't the 2000's with smart phones and internets and satellites and cable. This was back in the day where everything was by horses and carriages, it would take many days just to send a message from one province to another, and years to move armies. For a state like the SPQR that relied on a relatively small but professional full time armed force, maintaining a huge frontier is a pain in the ass.
If only Romans didn't fail in Germania...

Well considering that the border defenses of the Empire were primarily recruited from the border regions. So it would be rather difficult for the border guards to come from such poor regions.
Guys, just imagine Romans were successfull in Teuburg Forest. Germania would have become fully romanized like Gallia.
Also, it's way easier to defend a Visula-Dniester-Carpanthian frontier than the Rhin-Danube, because is SHORTER, and barbaric pressure would be also lower.
With just Germania + Mesopotamia + Nubia (and maybe Axum aka Ethiopia) + Arabia Felix (August tried to conquer Nubia plus Arabia Felix), Roman Empire would have reached their ultimate natural frontiers without conquering so much. They would only have Persia as threat.

>They would only have Persia as threat
Yeah cause the Roman Empire wasn't totally plagued by civil wars and civil strife.
The bigger they got, the more likely they would have split apart into multiple empires, which is what did happen.
But just imagine what would have happened if August managed to conquer Germania, Nubia and Arabia Felix (he tried the three of them).
