name a greater man
(napoleon is his equal, not greater)
>>2219684
Alexander the Great
>>2219684
I'll let the Germans handle this one. Repeatedly. And at great, great length.

Kirk Johnson. Hell, he probably wouldn't even feel it from Caesar.

Augustus Caesar

Yet another failing. Can be propped up there with the lack of ambition.
Milosevic Hussein Gaddafi
>>2219757
What a mess.
>>2219735
Literally who?
>>2219740
When Caesar traveled to Spain, he found a statue of Alexander. Upon seeing it, he wept, because he knew he could never live up to Alexander's legacy.
>>2219763
And in chronological order
>>2219771
To be fair, it's really Augustus' fault that he did.
Charles Martel
You literally cannot debate this
>>2219856
Not OP, but I'd certainly debate it. Martel's role, especially that of the battle of Tours, is enormously overblown.

No, Alexander is the inferior one here
>>2219740
How was Alexander a dullard brute? Dude was taught by Aristotle himself.
>>2220138
Alexander founded 70 cities in his name, some of them still great cities.
>>2219705
>inherited dad's elite army

BONAPARTE
>>2220147
And how many royal titles are named after Caesar?
How many are named after Alexander?
>>2219741
I'd say this is probably the only correct answer. Napoleon is debatable.
>>2219771
> he wept, because he knew he could never live up to Alexander's legacy.
I thought it was because he was ashamed that he has achieved (relatively) so little compared to alexander at his death
>>2219684
Charles V
Ramesses the Great
>>2219684
Crassus... the guy without who, your guy would've been a poor shitshoveler
>>2220314
Who wept at who's statue? Be honest, Octavian used that title to seem more legitimate and it just stuck.
>>2219771
I'm pretty sure that was early in Caesar's career. He was 17 or 18 and he was weeping because at the age of 17/18 Alexander has already accomplished many great things.
>>2219684
Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.
Would we really give a shit about Caesar if Augustus didn't win?
>>2220381
Probably, because very likely even then would Mark Anthony honour him.
>>2220381
Yes, Mark Antony loved Caesar.
It was only because Octavian (not my Caesar) and him had arguments over Caesar's will and continued battle for who was the true successor that Mark Antony is painted in a pretty unfavorable light.
Sure, he was a drunkard but at least he was a somewhat capable military commander while Octavian himself was just outright terrible. If Augustus didn't have Agrippa, he would have been completely out of his depth and never have come anywhere near the level of prestige he gained. This much was evident even during the 2nd Triumvirate. During this time Mark Antony made fun of Octavian's poor military command, and weak constitution.
In short, no Agrippa, no Augustus. No Tiberius, no Germanicus.
Barrack Obama
>>2219684
The greatest man.
Chingis Khan
>>2221916
What? No. Caesar had far fewer troops at his disposal. Further, Timur's armies were primarily composed of cavalry. Chingis did more with less than Timur did.
>>2221960
i meant in terms of starting position
>Caesar had far fewer troops at his disposal.

Possibly the only person more overrated than Napoleon.
Caesar is pretty great, but Napoleon is greater than Caesar in every way though. Much more impressive rise, better general, better leader and reformer.

I'd put Hitler if he had died in the beginning of 1939, but you either die a great man or you live long enough to see yourself do increasingly retarded things.
