When people stop veiwing the world in a reductive manner and into systems thinking on a large scale.
Humans have to be able consider artifacts in the world as parts of a system instead of members of a group. Unfortunately the tendency to reduce natural and abstract artifacts into categories of simularities and not consider their function and connections, is a part of our biology, an evolutionary anachronism that was an adaptation to a world that is now gone, a world that was destroyed by the adaption that once arouse from it, we're all devo.
Fortunately, we can learn.
Unfortunately 95% of people are ignorant of basic ecology and systems theory.
The reality is all living systems and their environments are sacred as all life is interrelated and interdependent.

Why do people think it's "sacred" exactly? What does that even mean? Human life is important I guess but sacred is not the right word.

Carl Sagan said it best, Human life is the only thing that can consider it's own value in a vast space consisting of millions of lightyears. So it is certainly valuable.
