What actually made plate armor inefficient on the battlefield?
>>2194791
Lots of guns
>>2194791
Literally nothing. Even after the invention and widespread use of firearms, it was better to be wearing plate armour than not. It just ceased to be cost-effective.
>>2194791
It's still in use to this day

What gauge of plate would stop your average rifle round? Would it have to be hardened?
>>2194813
this
It simply fell out of fashion
>>2194824
By the time rifling was a serious thing, plate armor was truly dead for all save cuirassiers.

>that fucking flail
LMAO
When they decided wars were better as button competitions

As more and more militarises changed to gunpowder based infantry and pike formations, heavy armour became a big ol' dot target for soldiers since it meant you were probably nobility. Noblemen knights were the people who kept plate armour the longest, but as dragoons and mounted gunnery improved mobility became more useful than protection.
Weight, restriction of mobility and evolving weapons. Amour must always catch up with combat to be effective

Sorry, I meant to say Swag became more important than protection.

>What actually made plate armor inefficient on the battlefield?
Nope. Plate armors were very effective even with early firearms. The problem it's mostly about logistic. It's good but not worth.
It's expensive as fuck, heavy to transport, shit maintenance (especially in humid areas) and a pain in the ass.
We still use plate armor today in the form of ceramic plate carriers.
We even used to use ballistic steel or titanium plate armor vests to stop rifle rounds in the 90s, 80s, and early 2000s. Some armies still do. Certainly many private citizens still do.

>i have fallen and i cant get up
but seriously, nothing, it worked like a charm, untill something smashed or punctured it
you might as well ask what made tank plating ineffective in the battelfield
>iv fallen into a dich and cant drive out of it
eventually theyl develop plasmaguns and then all wars will be fought in tracksuits and toyota pick-ups with shield generators grafted on top
