That's just an excuse to not switch to a better form of writing. b...but, muh artistic form of writing! The lack of phonetic alphabet is a disgrace and the communists should have gotten rid of the logographic system when they tried to standardize mandarin. Even native chinese speakers have a hard time learning written chinese. Ridiculous. They even have a hard time using a non electronic dictionary because many characters are entirely unique.
