Is German nation naturally inclined towards authoritative or at least strong state government?
No, Protestants just hate themselves. That's why they constantly seek new ways to repress their emotions and desires in various forms.

I'm asking because I keep finding this bit of info in random places. Why did certain Hanzeatic cities prefered to be a part of non-Germanic states despite sizeable German population? Because the monarchy was less authoritative there. Why did the ending of Cabinet of Doctor Caligari had to be changed? Because the original was too anti-authoritarian. Led me to believe that Germans like strong leaders.
