ITT: groups that were probably founded ironically.

True to some extent: it's led by a lot of salty Ex-Saddam army officers who weren't quite radical under Sad Hussy. They're probably in it for the power grab.

Isis purges are probably random to exercise the leaders control over his shitty drug cartel.
Probably.

I'd consider the US bankrolling the Soviets early in the war to be pretty ironic.

Nah, flat earth society was founded by Rowbotham. Basically the Gene Ray of his day. Fucked up an experiment when doing some basic surveying. Couldn't admit he was wrong. A guy who actually knew what he was doing, Lord Alfred Wallace, challenged him to a bet and basically raped his ass. Wallace got in a little bit of trouble later for taking advantage of a retard.
Anyway, Rowbotham ended up in prison for threatening the life of, and libeling Wallace. Later started writing unhinged screeds under a lame pseudonym. It's funny how conspiracy theorists fromt he 19th century have all the same symptoms and logic problems as the 21st century variety.
