The first draft wasn't written in ball point pen.
The pages in ballpoint pen are not part of the diary, nor were they written by Anne. They were annotations on 2 loose leaf sheets written by a researcher in the 1960s which were left, along with various other papers, with the original diary documents when they were cataloged in the 80s.
