what would the world be like if Rome discovered and conquered North America

what would the world be like if we didn't have OP's who asked absolutely retarded questions?
>>2135697
Better.
>>2135704
how is that a retarded question? The world would be vastly different I wanna hear peoples thoughts.
>>2135713
it's not even a plausible what if. Romans didn't have the right kind of ships to reach the Americas.
>>2135724
you dumb loser that's why it's a what if alternate universe scenario
Their ships where bigger than the ones that Colombo comanded. They also developed wind-jammer wich where used in mediterranean.
It would be perfectly possible to romans to conquer america.
>>2135726
OK so how about what if OP wasn't a faggot
That's much more interesting
>>2135759
who shit in your oats
>>2135755
They were bigger because they had rowers and were littoral ships so they didn't have to worry about bringing months' worth of supplies.
They didn't have compasses, accurate timepieces, or advanced sextants that would've allowed them to navigate the Atlantic.
They didn't have the manpower or logistics to occupy North America which is what "conquering" implies.
Not to method they never would've even tried crossing the Atlantic anyway because as far as they knew, there was nothing of value and even if they got there, there would've been very few things worth conquering; all the gold was in California and Alaska, all the silver was in Nevada too deep to mine for their current level of technology. They didn't use oil and coal. They had plenty of European, North African, Eurasian slaves, not worth enslaving Amerindians as well. There's lot of good farmland, but they didn't have the preservation technology to ship the food back to Rome.

Even if they overcame all this and magically went and conquered America for no reason, they would've just abandoned it anyway. They abandoned Britannia and it was a hell of a lot easier to reach than America.
>>2135697
it would be extremely painful
>>2135761
Who shat in yours man
Really the more interesting scenario is that if the Romans had ever reached america then could they have given the European diseases to them early and by doing that given the natives a better chance in staying in power.
Would be neat to see modern day Americas with nations that could have existed if their population had been decimated by disease centuries before any Portuguese or Spanish explorers had set foot in there.
>>2135697
they would probably spread all over the globe due to the fact their navy is evidently ridiculously advanced
>>2135704
Compared to the usual quality of /his/ threads this an absolutely brilliant question, and actually history related on top of that.
>>2135697
>discovered
Possible, but very unlikely, some expeditions could have reached America. Their ships weren't made for oceanic travel. They would have develop those first.
>conquered North America
Even if they had the means to reach America, they were already overstretched and didn't have the manpower and resources for that, except a few coastal colonies that wouldn't have lasted much time.
Simply reaching America was to costly.
More plausible is >>2135808 with regards to European disease spreading earlier.
