How could he if Poland wasn't part of the "HRE"?
>>2123453
There were emperors from the outside. Like Richard of Cromwall
>>2122954
Why did the Germans pretend they were the HRE for so long when it was clearly France? Like France even hosted the Pope for a long time in Avignon, not to mention the French basically ran the whole Crusade fad, then the Germans also tried to copy that in the Baltics and just made themselves look like even bigger cunts. It's clear France was the most holy nation in Europe, probably the closest to an empire as well and neither were Roman.

It would be extremely catholic.

>It would be extremely catholic.
Poland was renown for it's civil rights and political freedoms, (at least, for the nobility...) including freedom of religion.
"...we will keep the peace between ourselves, and we will not,
for the sake of our various faith and difference of church, either
shed blood or confiscate property, deny favor, imprison or banish,
and that furthermore we will not aid or abet any power or office
which strives to this in any way whatsoever..."
-- Confederation of Warsaw 1573 --
"It is certain had we in England but a third part of their liberty,
we could not live together without cutting one another's throats."
-- Bernard O'Connor (1666–98) Doctor to King Jan III Sobieski --

Augustus II the Strong was was Elector of Saxony, Imperial Vicar, King of Poland and Grand Duke of Lithuania.
As imperial vicar he was charged with administering all or part of the Holy Roman Empire on behalf of the Emperor.
He even could have been elected as Emperor.

He will quickly find out the difference between a personal union and a real union. If German princes don't even follow a German Emperor, why would they follow a foreigner?
>>2125490
It would have made not much difference. He already was one of the most powerful people in HRE. At his time Emperor was just a title.
