I'm more interested in how the creation of AI advanced enough to be largely indistinguishable from human intelligence would impact Christian thought.

Should they worship humans (or perhaps just whoever programmed them) on the count that it was them who created them or god/Jesus on the count it was god who created their creators. Also would a robot innately have a soul?

Also, religion is negatively correlated with scientific innovation, which further increases the chances of such a civilization being irreligious.

Same way the discovery of earth's real age, or that conciousness is purely biological, or evolution, or the fact that the chronology of creation is all wrong in the bible (like for example the sun being younger than earth, all stars being created at the same time and younger than earth, etc), or that earth is spherical, etc,etc
Religion doesnt die off when proven wrong, it has been documented that even religions founded on a single prophecy survived after it failed (adventists)
If religious people could be reasoned with and were humble enough to even consider the possibility of them being wrong then they would not be religious.

If we made a peaceful first contact with extraterrestrials, my predictions are that:

-The Abrahamic religions would not instantly disappear, though their hold over people would be severely weakened, and their decline would be accelerated. I see Christianity and Islam in particular doing badly.

-We would see the rise of a new religion. Some kind of universalist religion, perhaps with pantheistic elements.
