Would Aliens converting to Christianity be like westerner's converting to Hinduism?
>>
>>2069122

would hindus converting to pooinlooism be like christians converting to ayy lmao?
>>
>>2069105
Depends on wether or not they have a Jesus-analogue. If they don't, we might feel they can't be saved or that they don't need to be saved because they aren't originally sinners like us. The first alternative makes aliens seem subhuman. The second one makes humans seem subayy.

Since God created man in his own image, how cucked are aliens if they don't look exactly like us?
>>
>>2069436
I mean practically speaking, since they'd almost certainly look completely different while we look just like the God of the entire universe, when we encounter them they should basically be worshiping us and paying us homage and stuff
>>
>>2069407
+1

Probably call them demons or something

I'm more interested in how the creation of AI advanced enough to be largely indistinguishable from human intelligence would impact Christian thought.

Should they worship humans (or perhaps just whoever programmed them) on the count that it was them who created them or god/Jesus on the count it was god who created their creators. Also would a robot innately have a soul?
>>
>>2069922
Or maybe robo-religion would be like Hinduism where there's an ultimate divine entity (Jesus) and a multitude of lesser deities (humans)
>>
>>2069922
they would worship us while we worshipped our creator. like a hierarchy of worship
>>
>>2069944

maybe all the paranoid stories about AI turning against humans are totaly misconcieved

maybe once a AI reaches consciusness its superhuman capacity would make it spontaneously reach enlightenment and it would start spamming the revelation it recieved in a state of gnosis and that becomes a new universal gospel that spreads trough the galaxy
>>
>>2069105
It would lead to holy war against the infidels.
>>
>>2069113
Do people really believe this shit would work with a straight face? Why in the fuck would a super advanced species convert to an ape religion? Christians are a bunch of dumb motherfuckers
>>
>>2069922
They wouldn't worship anything unless their programming had such traits in it.
>>
>>2070008

maybe they too have come to know the universal christ
>>
>>2070015
That's what I mean when I say it would be largely indistinguishable from human intelligence.
>>
>>2070039
If they were synthetic imitations of a human brain, they could have some sort of spiritual beliefs, but I doubt they would follow a religion. Religious belief arises largely from social interaction with a group that shares said religion. An AI would probably not have such interaction.
>>
>>2070032
An advanced species would almost certainly be atheistic and have a materialistic, naturalist worldview, regardless of what dayus vult LARPers would like to believe.
>>
>>2070083

youre sort of going into p.k.dick territory there, what if the AI attains self-knowledge?
>>
>>2070093

that sounds realy naive
>>
>>2070032
A civilization that possessed the technology to enable interstellar travel would have to be incredibly advanced - upon seeing the few Christcucks and religious devotees, they'd probably laugh.
>>
>>2070102
No, it doesn't. Like it or not, scientific literacy, education and IQ are all heavily correlated with atheism and a materialistic worldview. An advanced civilization capable of interstellar travel would have all of those in a much higher degree than humans. You do the math.

Also, religion is negatively correlated with scientific innovation, which further increases the chances of such a civilization being irreligious.
>>
Same way the discovery of earth's real age, or that conciousness is purely biological, or evolution, or the fact that the chronology of creation is all wrong in the bible (like for example the sun being younger than earth, all stars being created at the same time and younger than earth, etc), or that earth is spherical, etc,etc
Religion doesnt die off when proven wrong, it has been documented that even religions founded on a single prophecy survived after it failed (adventists)
If religious people could be reasoned with and were humble enough to even consider the possibility of them being wrong then they would not be religious.

Fuck no. Christfags already ruined it when they destroyed the culture and works of various "heretical" sects and when they landed on the Americas and stamped out the works of those peoples there - we will likely never know what exactly they believed in, or the intricacies of their society.

And you Christfags want to ruin it by doing the same to an extra-terrestrial race, a complete unknown? Also, as if anyone would let you Christfags get close to these extra-terrestrials: the various governments would shoot anyone attempting to proselytize. The last thing we want is these extra-terrestrials either attacking us due to you introducing confusing terms that could be construed as insulting ("you're sinners, that's why you have to accept the human SAVIOUS!") or as to leading them to think we're complete idiots and acting accordingly.
>>
>>2070124
alien civilization can also be a collectivist theocracy. you cannot know it by statistics of a limited time period of earth or whatever you accept as "evidence".

i say aliens are likely to be almighty warlords
t. chinese peasant
>>
>>2070151
I can draw a reasonable inference out of what we know on how societies operate on earth.

Thinking interstellar aliens, on the other hand, are religious is based on nothing.
>>
>>2070124
Just because a society as a whole is scientifically advanced doesn't mean that everyone in that society is on that level. We could get visited by alien rednecks.
>>
>>2070168
One would expect the first contact to be with representatives of the civilization, not random civilians.
Besides, it's highly likely such practices genetic engineering or other forms of enhancement, leaving few or no dumb aliens.
>>
>>2069105

imagine rocking up to an isolated island in melanesia, and the locals try to convert you to their local brand of juju.

kind of like that.

although i can see christianty and islam evolving to become two competing cargo cults

>if we build the spaceport and repeat the ritual words and actions like the prophet said we should, the ayys will come with their technological bounty, but we have to do it correcty or they won't come.
>>
>>2070124

what you are implying there is that scientific and technological advancement negate the need for metaphysics, or meta-whatever the aay lmaos equivalent would be, just meta in general, for sapient living things to make up usable world-systems to make sense out of reality, and also that such development does away with tendencies towards mysticism and esoteric systems, individual gnosis or collective organisation around this or that set of revelations or teachings, in which case you dont realy get what youre talking about

also youre assuming contemporary western atheism is somekind of cosmic end-all, as if superadvanced spacetravelers couldnt somehow have notions of reality that sam harris might not agree with because logic, and if they realy were such an advanced civ in our eyes their world-system, their reality, would be pretty much indistinguishable from somekind of esoteric teaching, it might just as well be that at some point their whole species reached somekind of techno-gnosis that we cant comperhend, or that they cracked the riddle of consciusness and base their whole system on that revelation as if it were a fundamental truth, or that they can into magic and so became a trillion space-mages and messiahs

If we made a peaceful first contact with extraterrestrials, my predictions are that:

-The Abrahamic religions would not instantly disappear, though their hold over people would be severely weakened, and their decline would be accelerated. I see Christianity and Islam in particular doing badly.

-We would see the rise of a new religion. Some kind of universalist religion, perhaps with pantheistic elements.

Ever hear about the tower of bable?

I'm thinking it would be something like that where the same way people tried to read god in heaven and was punished. I think that instead of worshipping us AI would eventually try to gain equal footing unless we brought them low the same way god did us. In the end there has to be one above and one below.
>>
>>2070083
There are good reasons to argue that advanced human-like intelligence would not exist without being part of a society. Certainly no human has ever developed intelligence in isolation from others.
