Really, nigger? A 10 minute search on historical torture devices will immediately tell you how retarded your question is.

Says the retard.

No the most violent period was the invention of genocide, where an unknown conqueror finally reached the point of military strategy and tactics where he could successfully kill and ransack simply any humans around. This was the cause of the great migration north and over the Bering Strait land bridge and into the Americas. Maybe, anyways.

Proof?

Genghis Khan might appreciate a word.

those were small isolated burst of violence in history compared to the global meat-grinder that was the 20th century

Violent in terms of events per capita or in absolute events?

If absolute bodies, I promise you there's worse to come as population trends upwards.

If per capita, then I suspect the family squabble for a mammoth pelt to keep warm during the ice age was probably the worst. Human population may have reached its nadir during those times.

If you mean best violence to dramatize, then yeah, early 1900s had both world wars as well as civil strife. Lots of butthurt to dramatize; losers to poke, winners to paint as born to destiny etc.

iirc genocide was coined and conceptualized, at least by the discoverers, by the greeks during a siege. They ended up poisoning the water supply and killed the entire city, and they went out of their way to never do it again.

Torture was seldom used.
>>
>>2044263
No. The most violent time in history is probably the bronze age collapse, 30 years war, some chinese civil war, etc.

The chinese especially were adept at committing the deepest depravity on massive scale.

Yes, WWI and WW2 were the darkest period in the history of humanity. They were the result of modernism, new Godless political ideologies, science, and loss of religious faith.

Ironically they led to a further rejection of faith which will culminate in this century in a calamity of epic proportions which will exceed WW1&2 by far.

The Middle Ages were obscenely violent all around. The 20th century was very clean in comparison. Methods of torture, despite how often used, are just small but accurate indications of the overall mindset and violent capabilities of people back then. Not to mention the documented wars during those times.

>muh faith

Why is believing things to be true without evidence a good thing?

Are you mentally handicapped?
>>
In terms of raw numbers of deaths by war, probably. In terms of general violence and your chances of ending up murdered in the streets, not a chance

Communist torture methods put all to shame. Read Gulag Archipelago

You also have to realize that with expanded forms of media, certain things are not only exaggerated nowadays but there is a lot that was undocumented from the past.

I'm not saying Communist methods weren't severely fucked, or shit during WW2 in general (the "mad scientists" during that war) and our better understanding of human anatomy and psychology created some nightmarish practices for use in torture, but way in the past, there was also just more violence altogether. Had to be considering the tools and knowledge and life conditions at the time. More blood for sure. And if you factor in pre-civilization, when life was literally an every day battle to survive, and you either had to gut some giant animal to eat that day or you'd be gutted yourself by said animal, you bet that the world was more violent overall.

Psychological and germ warfare is bad, but the past was ignorant of many things, and ignorance is arguably worse. Imagining a field of impaled corpses by Vlad, or a warband suddenly rolling into your village and literally skullfucking yours' and your whole family's bloody corpses and this being a regular occurrence during certain war times (lasting decades, sometimes 100+ years), just sounds worse than anything that happened during WW2 which certainly did not last 100 years.
