Meet George B, the savior of the Union
>killed Mexicans while carrying a saber, a parade sword, a bowie knife, a double-barreled shotgun and two pistols AT THE SAME TIME
>never lost a battle against Lee
>favorable casualty ratio during the Seven Days battles
>would have made the South roll over and capitulate if this had gone on for any longer
>got replaced by a parade of circus freaks who couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag
>invented a fucking SADDLE
>gets shit all over by jealous Republicunts who couldn't stand his success
Prove me wrong, /his/
protip: you can't

McClellan only did reasonable in battles because he went out of his way to avoid them. Hell, Meade is overrated too because he got lucky with Gettysburg. The union didn't need to get favorable k/d ratios, they needed to stomp out some rebs, and Mac failed miserably at doing that while the Confederacy was in its infancy.
Best Union general: George Henry Thomas
Best Confederate general: Patrick Cleburne

first off
>pic is gay lincoln didn't like or trust mcclellan
>antietam
>outnumbering lee more than 2:1
>still sustain more casualties
in all seriousness Lee thought McClellan was the best of the union generals iirc
>>2020040
I'm partial to
Sherman
desu
>>2020049
>Meade is overrated
If anything Meade is underrated.
>>2020071
McClellan was so fucking indecisive, he constantly thought the confederates had 3 times the amount of men than he had.
>>2020040
honestly though
he knew the whole thing was bullshit
did not want to send union men to die
>>2020049
>didn't need to get favorable k/d ratios
ultimately though this is still important, and they couldn't achieve field superiority against the South.
>>2020115
He hated the thought of them dying pointlessly. That's why he chose his fights and he chose them wisely. Some people confuse caution with indecision.

>ultimately though this is still important, and they couldn't achieve field superiority against the South.
Yep also the south was casualty-averse. Why sacrifice 3 men for every one of theirs when you've got someone who'll achieve 1-1? #ImWithMac

The decision not to pursue Lee is stretching it, but the army was completely exhausted and bleeding.
McClellan was a good guy.
>>2020054
>George Henry Thomas
>Not Francis "Baby Boy of Harvard" Barlow
>Not Israel "Fighting Dick" Richardson
Richardson and Barlow literally put the Union within a stone's throw of crushing Lee's army completely at Antietam and would've done so if it were not for that lucky Confederate cannonball..
>Patrick Cleburne
It's a tie between him, Jackson, and Longstreet desu. Although Cleburne so certainly the most forward thinking Confederate officer when it came to slavery.
>>2020049
>Meade is overrated
More like criminal
>>2020049
>overrated
Did anyone call me?
based McClellan just didn't give a fuck
