No, most don't believe in the "noble" savage myth. We are all aware of the violence that pervades the life of pre-agrarian societies. But, while there is division of labor along the lines of gender, age, and perhaps a few other factors depending on specific cases, these small societies have less competition for resources within themselves. They have a stronger "us vs. them" mentality, so they are very collectivistic, not at all individualistic.
