He showed the world how badly Anarcho-Capitalism would fail if allowed to run it's course.

He correctly predicted that the Soviet system was on the verge of collapse and that prolonged confrontation would push them over the edge.

Literally everything else he did was some form of cancer, but he did in fact make a really ballsy call when it came to that.

Reagan was the first US president since at least first term Nixon to pursue open confrontation with the USSR, and it paid off royally.

He was an economic genius, he realised that under capitalism the US could enter vast amounts of debt they have no hopes of ever paying off but under communism the USSR would simply print more labour tokens, completely destroying them forever.

He was voted in at a time of a political-economic shift, in that it was the beginnings of a neoliberal system as opposed to the previous, Fordist system. This system had begun proper in the early 80s but as it continued and as people entered debt (allowed to borrow) it made them feel richer than they actually were, and it was put down to his economic policies.

As well as this, in regards to foreign policy he was the first US President to simplify world events to make them simpler to the general public. This could be seen during the Soviet intervention in Afghanistan where he portrayed the Mujahadeens as heroic warriors worthy of US support against the 'evil Soviet empire'. This was successful in strengthening public support for US actions across the world and help stabilise his position as president, particularly as these US actions against the USSR appeared very successful as the USSR was beginning to collapse and was no longer capable of really challenging the West. The simplifying of world events had been that successful that its been used by every US president since.
