This. It became popular during the late nineteenth century and had nothing to do with Jews. At that time, fundamentalist Christians (the Kelloggs were seventh day adventists) went a giant crusade to stop masturbation and other sexual practices because they believed they caused health problems and a bunch of societal issues. Circumcision was promoted as a way to prevent masturbation and lessen sexual urges.
