It's pretty much well-known that the original Arabs were Yemeni, who then moved north and went on to build many civilizations there. I wouldn't be surprised if at least the Phoenicians and the Carthaginians were descended from those Yemenis.
Even by looking at the Phoenician and the Old South Arabian script, there is a clear connection. So he's not completely wrong.
