Why is it considered that he was a terrible leader? He has won many battles and entire operations, he has even won a war. Despite the /his/ meme of him blatantly sending his soldiers to their deaths just because "DUDE MEME LMAO", he managed to keep a rather good K/D rate.

I'm talking about Zhukov of course
Also military leader general thread I guess
>>1985878
It's just bantz between russianboos and otherboos. Zhukov wasn't the greatest general ever, maybe not even top 20, but he was exactly the firm, determined military mind which the USSR needed at the time.

t. Luigi "Break the line or it's court marshal time'' Cadorna
My list:
1. Napoleon
Defeated enemies against overwhelming odds, revolutionised the warfare of his time, was considered military genius by both his generals and his enemies.
2. Alexander
Carved a huge empire with small army, was also a tactical genius as he also won the battle of Issus and Gaugamela against overwhelming odds.
3. Julius Caesar
Defeated enemies again and again that had superior numbers against him. Conquered Gaul,Belgium, Spain and would have conquered Britain if he was left alone b the Senate, also defeated the greatest general of his time besides him.
4.Belisarius
Re-conquered all of Italy, re-conquered North Africa, wrecked the Sassanids and Fought a guerilla war against the Bulgars and won. The pinnacle of Roman military tactics.
5. Timur
Although the Mongols had in the previous century conquered avast territory with their vast numbers, this guy started with almost nothing and went on to conquer Persia, most of Asia minor, northern India and Egypt, while wrecking the Ottomans and the Mamluks in the process.
5. Zhukov
In an era where generals started playing less of a prominent role due to the huge fronts developing, Zhukov was entrusted by Stalin more responsibilities than any other general in WWII, and managed to turn hopeless situations like Stalingrad into resounding victories.
7. Subutai
Did all the heavy lifting for Genghis , conquered thirty-two nations and won sixty-five pitched battles, wrecked the Polish and Hungarians and would have probably conquered eastern Europe if Ogedei hadn't died.
8. Ibn Il Khalid
Fought against the two major superpowers against his age, conquered huge territories and was never defeated. Nuff said.
9.Hannibal Barca
A military genius that had his reputation sullied by that final defeat by Africanus, which would have been averted if Carthage actually supported him there and before in his conquests .
>>1986453
10. John Churchill
Fought ten campaigns against superpower France, and won them all, true he wasn't alone in the fighting, but the other generals beside fighting with him where peanuts compared to his experience.
>>1986453
You are missing Rommel and Patton from your meme list.
>>1986453
>ranking subutai and khalid that low
>ranking alexander that high
my top is julius caesar since he's basically fighting the same army that he has during the civil wars
also, he's a natural born genius
and charismatic
>>1986453
The Duke of Marlborough should be on the list.
>>1986461
>implying Eugene of savoy wasn't his better
>>1986504
Caesar is a meme.
Alexander conquered most of the known world with less relative resources.
Caesar was an excellent strategist but a mediocre general reliant of the superiority of the Marian reforms.
>>1985878
What the hell? why McArthur is not enlisted ?
>you will never be spitroasted by Zhukov and Rokossovski
best general right here boyz
>>1986564
What do you mean less resources? Alexander had the hegemony over all Greece. Sure Macedon was poor, but not all his troops were Macedonian. Caesar was not a ruler until he fought a damn civil war that ultimately destroyed the republic.
>>1986453
>no Frederick the Great
Shit list.
Why it was Georgy "A million dead russians a day keeps the German division away" Zhukov of course
Alexander
Sulla
Akbar
Napoleon
Ibn al Khalid
In no particular order

Timur
Alexander
Scipio
Hannibal
Julius
Patton
Gustavus

Read somewhere that Timur would have seeds planted in certain fields several years before a planned conquest so his horses would have good spots to graze.
>>1991462
>No Napoleon
>Patton
