The Indian region had similar conditions as Europe, ie. Loads of fertile land, plenty of competitors, access to water and necessary living essentials. Why did they not only stay in a relative technological status quo compared to europe and even china, and even let themselves get colonized? When Europeans were faced with the mongols or muslims, despite having inferior tactics, they still held out despite having a lot of internal strife and struggle amongst each other.
