The Douay-Rheims translation actually came first. The problem is, it's Catholic.

KJV is the first fully Protestant translation in English, and afaik I don't think there is very much reader bias in the translation either.

How come that denominations claiming they follow a first century Christianity strictly and without any later contaminations use a Bible from 400? Sometimes exclusively?
