I haven't done HEMA, so I don't have any experience to base this off, but I'm pretty secptical about this video. It feels a bit contrived.

Probably is. I do HEMA and I have never, ever seen anyone do a Mordhau.
Half-swording happens, but usually only when it comes to grappling.

Against someone in armor who's also distracted, or when you have some buddies going the same, Mordhau might work.

That said, I kinda doubt anyone would flip their longsword and attack someone in plate armor head on 1 on 1. A Mordhau is possible, sure, but unless you're so majestically skilled that you could beat a tank with a golf club, it's much more likely the armored guy will just bum rush and skewer you.
