1. You far overestimate the level of weebs in the West.
2. Japan has been the most integrated "foreign" nation in the Western world.

It is still a rather "original" culture due to being an island nation that is also rather reclusive. The language barrier and poor English skills of most Japanese keep them away from the western "mainstream". e.g. if you went to any European country, it would be highly influenced by American pop culture. In Japan not so much.
Also, Japan is more traditionalist in the sense that gender roles are more accepted and represented in their media. e.g. a depiction of girlish cuteness and femininity is not looked down upon by a million activist groups who'd like to ban it in order to not give a "bad" example to girls growing up whom they'd rather become plumbers and engineers than housewives. Also, division between genders and their interests is more taken for grated there. Japan panders to both men and women, delivering what they seek, whether it's moe shows with cute girls or ikemen/bishounen for the fujoshi and otome audience. They don't hold the foolish idea that entertainment needs to be inclusive and deliver something to everyone. Genders having different interests and being divided on it, consuming their entertainment alone is not something deemed harmful.

Well the first one was from the 19th century and because of Artists like Monet obsessing about Japanese art following the opening and industrialization of Japan.

The second one was from the 1700s. France had the unique position of being China's most favorite Western barbarian country during Louis XIV's time. In which there was an unprecedented number of French cunts in Qing China more than any other European ethnicity in the empire. These guys went home with trade deals & contacts, news from the Chinese empire, and of course art. Said art led to either the French mimicking of Chinese styles or French artists painting scenes about Chinese life & history (or at least, what they think passes for it). The whole genre of art was called Chinoiserie.

Pic related: French Jesuits even followed the 10 Great Campaigns of Kangxi and Qianlong, pretty much one of the first blow by blow Asian news accounts in France.

>Young people's Japanese is full of english loan words.
It's filled with English loan-words and it has been like that since forever. However, many of these loan-words mean something entirely different than they originally do. Some are even completely made up and have no actual meaning in English. It sounds modern or exotic to them, that's why they use them. That does not change however that the language barrier keeps people out from directly consuming English media and thus leaving Japan significantly less influenced by American mainstream culture.

Koreans are consciously trying to make this a reality on a state level:

Because grass is always greener in a culture you know enough about to idealize, but not enough to see realistically. And because people seem to like masturbating to Chinese cartoons fr some obscure reason.

These.

Japan is both advanced enough to go out of its way to reach out to you, and insular enough to develop its culture in its own way and privacy.

It's in the golden mean between in and out, familiar and foreign, known and unknown, West and East.

Have you actually watched NHK? It's like the safest shit ever. 70% of japanese media is variety shows about people eating delicious noodles. It's literally primetime tv.

I reckon, the only thing for sure that you can say about japan, is that nothing about japan can be said for sure.

They're conservative, except for when they're not.
There's no crime, except for when there is.
Gambling is illegal, except for pacinko...and horse races...and etc etc
