you severely underestimate how smart, competent, and not-lazy the common person is if you ever ask most people in any work-place field (sans highly selected and vented professional settings) who train new people how the average candidate is.
Most jobs aren't selected on appearance. Don't buy into the NEET myth that bosses only hire qt secretaries who are willing to suck their dick and that's why they can't get a job. Most employers are content with finding who can do the jobs they're offering the cheapest while filling the minimum qualifications and expectations. Those big alpha-male bosses aforementioned just fuck whores at the bar and save money instead most of the time (unless you're talking about some guy at a big-corporate firm, which you're misguided to think most people work at such and every new job is secretaries for them).
