Harry Turtledove does some good stuff, with the only thing being his early works all have cringy sex scenes. He has a series called Timeline 191 about if the South won the civil war.

if you want really spaced out stuff, try david icke on youtube. he talks about reptillians, UFO, alternative reality created by saturn and the moon, and interprets bibletexts, and other ancient recordings according to that. pretty spaced out, but at least an interesting point of view
