ITT: Historical villains who literally did nothing wrong.
>>1895561
benny was a dumbass
not really a "villain" but he definitely fucked up by changing sides
>>1895591
guy gets shafted after all of his achievements and decides "well I'll just go to the other side"
at least he is remembered, unlike Horatio Gates
>>1895573

are you really implying Robespierre did NOTHING wrong?
>>1899103
He did do one thing wrong.
He left any monarchists left alive.
>>1898268
>sold out his country to a foreign invader
Pure scum.

Richard III. Henry VII and Shakespeare really malign the man when he wasn't that bad. The Princes of the Tower was certainly suspicious and if he didn't order them killed, he certainly profited from their disappearance. But there's no concise evidence that he was behind it.
There are FAR worse kings in England's history than Richard III. Even John isn't the worst in my opinion. Personally, I think Aethelred the Unready, Edward the Confessor, William the Bastard, and William Rufus deserve those honors.
Yeah I'll bite.
LaFayatte
Guy was an American Hero for getting the French Involved with the American revolution.
Camw home to French Revolution and tried to stop the inevitable outcome.
Fled to Austria to try and go to America.
Was seen as traitor and had his fortune stollen by the dictatorship government at the time, while he was inprisoned in Austria.
Failed to save his part time lover Antonette
Labeled as Traitor instead of the Hero Role he deserved.
Debateable?

How is Lafayette a "historical villain"? He is pretty well-loved especially in the US but also in France. Despite being a treasonous cunt who massacred innocent demonstrators in the Champ de Mars.
>>1895561
Muhammad
>>1900443
French guy here.
We see Lafayette as a hero, albeit on the other side, not as a villain.

Fuck de Valera. Dude was a half-Cuban who fucked up Ireland's development. He should've joined the Allies in WW2, but his butthurt fucked that up.
>>1899877
Stephen is probably the worst in my opinion. Usurped a throne that wasn't his and caused the Anarchy, an unnecessary civil war.
Benedict Cumberbatch did a decent job as Richard III in The Hollow Crown series.
>>1898250
nobility too poor to go up in society REEE's out and kills the people "keeping him back" literally R9K tier autismo
In general the Julio-Claudians who were made by Suetonius (at the behest of the Nervans) into a bunch of insane incestuous pedophiliac rapists. And Caligula in particular, since it's quite clear from the context that his allegedly insane antics were political strong-arming against the senate and the army.
Find me literally ONE thing he did wrong
>he broke away from the Church
That was only his original indention, only did so when it became clear the Church wanted to kill him instead of trying to refute or answer his criticism of it
>b-but muh treaty of Trent!
Came around when Europe was already deep into religious wars, they would never have done it otherwise
>m-m-uh divided Europe!
Because that wasn't what the Catholic Church had done by excommunicating Cerularius?
They hadn't done it by fucking with the authority of the Holy Roman Emperors, a lack of authority that was more important for the outburst of the thirty years wars than some wild German monk?
>>1903773
Ironically, partition is something Carson didn't want to happen.
>>1903806
Luther only wanted to reform the Church, he never intended on creating schism. You have to blame the Black Death for killing off the good priests and bishops since they were the ones who attended their flock and died because of it. The useless corrupt ones shut themselves and couldn't properly explain what happened, thus the Church became even more reactionary.
>>1903982
Doubt anyone in 1912 wanted partition.
>>1903824

Then the Orangemen shouldn't have introduced the gun to Irish politics; something that's reverberated with dangerous repercussions to this day.
I've extensively read Irish history from the Tudor Conquest to The Emergency. The biggest fuck-up was that the United Irishmen Rebellion failed. It was the last time that Catholics and Protestants could join forces in asserting an Irish identity and political future. The 19th century with the Orange Order, the famines, and the land wars were the deathknell to any reconciliation. Even Parnell couldn't stem the tide rolling against him.
What exacerbates me is how the Unionists feared that their industry in the north would be threatened despite the fact that the south was developing just as well. The biggest trick that Carson, Craig, and the architects of the Ulster Covenant was to convince the Protestant working classes to treat their fellow Catholic laborers as enemies instead of allies against pompous hoity-toity rich snobs. I'm not even a socialist and it baffles me at how duped the Unionist common people were.

The more I read about this guy, the more I realize he wasn't the chief architect of WW1. He liked the grandeur of warfare, but he genuinely preferred peace. Unfortunately the Junker culture is what dominated politics.
>>1904172
*ahem*
I will always blame the KuKs for plunging the whole world into war, and not being prepared for it themselves.
>>1904120
>Irishman wailing
Can't mention Ulster in the slightest way without yousens breaking down.
>>1904200
Yeah Austria-Hungary was an outdated portfolio of Hapsburg real estate. It was too weak to do anything but be dead weight.
>>1904207
Not even Irish. Don't have a drop of Celtic blood. I just find it's history fascinating because of how fucked-up N.I. is.
>>1904154
The entente should've lost the 1st World War. Germany should've burned France to the ground, Britain and Germany should've made peace. The world would be a better place.
>>1899877
Most of american property law is based off William the Bastards "reforms". The textbook says he was appropriately named
>>1903376
>he should've joined the allies in ww2
t. enda kenny
What would Ireland gain from joining the Allies? Germany never did anything to Ireland, nor were they holding Irish land unlike the British.
>>1895561
>>1904225
Until the Eternal Anglo and the burgers start WW2 to 'restore order' in Europe with the help of Russia. In the end it would just end like our timeline.
>>1906398
He probably went to confession, he's all right.
>>1904172
He said it himself that if you think hes controlling the army you're wrong.
Plus he didnt trust Ludendorff one of the few generals that had a plan goin in to the battles.
