salty natives 'n cold af weather
It was on the other side of an Ocean and the vikings had much closer and less isolated backwaters to drop their population surplus at.
There was also the Scraelings who while easy to BTFO was quite annoying.

While they could reach Vinland, they did not have the capabilities (or will) to do so frequently. Later attempts at colonization proved that with limited logistical capabilities it was difficult to establish settlements that would be virtually isolated. Wasn't Jamestown like the 4th british attempt at a colony in the Americas?
Had the Greenland colony fared better and saw an expansion of it's population it's likely another colony at Vinland would have expanded. However, medicine and climate prohibited any significant economical or population boom in Greenland.
In the end, with the limited seafaring capabilities that the vikings had, it just wasn't worth it when Byzantine and Arabic lands were so much richer, closer and warmer.
