It always backfires. Always. Arab caliphs hire Turkic mercenaries? They end up carving Muslim lands. Byzantine Emperor hires Turkic mercenaries? They defect to their barbarian cousins and take over Anatolia and the Balkans.

Now we see the same mistake being made. Europe trust the Turks with controlling refugees, while Russia trust Turks to destroy ISIS without backstabbing them in Syria. It's obvious it will backfire and Turks will end up controlling both Europe, the Middle East and Russia, but people keep trusting them.
