Jesus was crucified for less than a day before they took him down. How so? It usually takes 2-3 days before it kills you.

The Romans.

He said he was the messiah, one with the Father. The religious authorities and assorted traditionalist thinkers didn't like that, on the account of that being heresy. There also may have been fear of him pissing the Romans off. They couldn't execute him, so they had the Romans do it.

Both the Sanhedrin and the Romans were responsible, but it should be noted that Christ gave himself up willingly to their judgment. It had to happen, so resenting either group isn't entirely rational. They were simply the instruments of a higher power.

you're partly right. he was a new interpretation of the messiah. what christians think of as the second coming, when christ will return as a true king, *IS* the messiah in the jewish sense. they were taught that when the messiah comes he will be their actual "flesh and blood, sit on a throne, rule over israel" king. jesus clearly was not that. furthermore, jews (and muslims) believe that god is greater than creation, above and beyond it. there is nothing equal to god in heaven or on earth. god shares power with no one. they do not accept the 3-in-1 idea of christianity, they still see it as heresy for any human to claim to be god. can't say i blame them, god could have warned people that he would take flesh. there's nothing in the old testament to support the idea that the messiah would be god himself, they expected god to send a messiah, a king to them, but of course they expected it to be a person only, not god in the flesh.

Roman guards to crucifixions had to guard the site until the crucified had expired. Alot of the times this meant that said guards would do their best to accelerate the process.
As a response to OPs question, he was a religious dissident who was upsetting the order. After so many Jewish revolts in the area, its no wonder he was crucified.
