What is ignoble about promoting social cohesion through "lies" of the nation and religion?
Take, for example, the Rwandan genocide. Would it have been ignoble for Bill Clinton to lie that Rwanda had weapons of mass destruction, despite the fact he'd be saving millions of lives? Would it be ignoble for George Bush to do the same and in the process stall a regional arms race between Sunnis (Saudis), Shias (Iranians), Secular expansionists (iraq), and Jews (israel)?
I'm just wondering what are the counter-arguments used by intellectuals, not your own political thoughts.

well what if Bill lied about Rwanda having WMD's to take over the government and secure a new puppet government that would do whatever the US told them to do, including securing deals for Bills Business buddies?

I mean in that situation, is there an intellectual argument against the noble lie if it is noble? I get that it can be abused, my question is whether or not it is moral for an individual to make those kinds of lies and, if not, what is the argument.
The Noble Lie becomes truth when you get everyone to believe and act in accordance to it.

Hi there!
You seem to have made a bit of a mistake in your post. Luckily, the users of 4chan are always willing to help you clear this problem right up! You appear to have used a tripcode when posting, but your identity has nothing at all to do with the conversation! Whoops! You should always remember to stop using your tripcode when the thread it was used for is gone, unless another one is started! Posting with a tripcode when it isn't necessary is poor form. You should always try to post anonymously, unless your identity is absolutely vital to the post that you're making!
Now, there's no need to thank me - I'm just doing my bit to help you get used to the anonymous image-board culture!
