its grim, raw, unglamorous, and absolutely disgusting. Probably a very accurate depiction of medieval times. Its a sci-fi flick, its not historical, so not sure that it belongs here. But unlike braveheart or 300 it does not negate the horror of everyday life for the illiterate populous. My vote for most realistic goes to Valhalla Rising, that one really is good. But then again, anything hollywood is built on suspense and glamour in order to entertain, everyone is so well groomed, pearly whites, with good manners and etiquette, none of that shit is one bit realistic.

Fun fact: shaved genitals have existed since at least the era of Alexander, and have been standard for a number of medieval cultures. When the Crusader States discovered Muslims shaved their dicks/cunts, they started doing it too. It became a fashionable thing in that part of the world.
